The Charlotte County Day School Natatorium was a complex but exciting project, created to help the school align its facilities with the STEAM curriculum.
This project was a three-story, 35,250 SF building with eight laboratories and eight classrooms that had to accommodate real-time, real-world research in a college setting. The dedicated lab spaces had to be suitable for chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, and design. They also had to incorporate advanced technology to support high-level instruction and research.
Every classroom had to be equipped with a projector, camera, and an advanced AV package to eliminate barriers to learning and to create easy access for students. In addition, most faculty offices were constructed to be adjacent to classrooms and to include a window to provide visibility and accessibility to the students.
Also featured on this project were Charlotte Country Day School, and Centerbrook Architects and Planners, who intentionally designed sufficient collaboration and breakout space throughout the facility.
Together, we sought to create an exceptional space for students to gain hands-on experience that will enrich their academic lives.
